Following a violent burglary in Eschweiler on Monday evening, police have released further details about the incident.
According to the police, three or four masked individuals speaking French broke into a family house at around 7.30pm and overpowered the two residents. The suspects searched the property for valuables before fleeing with cash and jewellery.
Police were alerted to the incident at around 8.30pm and immediately launched a large-scale search operation in the surrounding area. Several units were deployed, but the search was called off around midnight without success. Forensic teams were later dispatched to the scene on the orders of the public prosecutor's office.
