RTL was able to confirm the changes with the National Roads Administration on Friday. They added that the installation of the lights should happen relatively quickly, as the necessary foundations and connections had already been laid at the time of the roundabout’s construction.
Nonetheless, it might still take a while before the project is actually launched. Rather than starting work on an already saturated roundabout, the second-largest, in the Grand Duchy, the National Roads Administration wants to wait for the Bettembourg construction works to be completed. This means that the traffic lights will not be installed before late 2024 at the earliest.
Once in place, traffic will be regulated in the same way as at the Iergaertchen roundabout near Sandweiler.
The Dudelange-Burange roundabout sees around 2,500 vehicles at peak times during morning rush hour. In the evening, this figure can rise to 3,000 vehicles.
