
In the early hours of this morning, a young man was struck by a train at Niederkorn station and subsequently succumbed to his injuries.
The public prosecutor's office in Luxembourg has initiated an investigation into the incident and requested a post-mortem examination. Forensic police were present at the scene to assist in the investigation.
Rail traffic between Esch/Alzette and Pétange was temporarily halted in both directions following the incident. Replacement buses were put in place to cover the stations, apart from Belval-Redange.
Services have gradually resumed since 10 am, with authorities working to restore normal operations.
