With Luxembourg’s strong Christian traditions, various celebrations lasting several days usually take place around Easter weekend.

Klibberen (going rattling), Holy Thursday (Gréngendonneschden), Good Friday (Karfreiden), Holy Saturday (Karsamsden), Easter Sunday (Ouschtersonnden) and finally Easter Monday with Éimaischen, a popular, folkloric festival are part of the week-long celebration around Easter in the Grand Duchy.

Dive into this archival footage from the 1950s to see children (traditionally only boys allowed) with their rattle machines, village residents walking up to church through the vineyards and children hunting Easter eggs.
