The controversial statements made by Simone Beissel, MP of the Democratic Party (DP) and member of Luxembourg City's municipal executive board, on the programme of former CSV MP Astrid Lulling, have sparked official scrutiny.
The Independent Luxembourg Broadcasting Authority (ALIA), tasked with overseeing the content aired on television programmes licensed in Luxembourg, announced in a press release on Tuesday its decision to launch a formal investigation into the January broadcast of 'Riicht eraus' on Apart TV.
ALIA aims to assess whether the programme's content adheres to Luxembourg's regulations governing audiovisual media.
During the broadcast, Beissel's remarks regarding the Roma community in relation to Luxembourg City's begging ban drew significant controversy. Beissel subsequently issued apologies via social media and during an interview on RTL Radio, expressing regret for her choice of words.
