The Ministry of Health will carry out an analysis to determine whether the so-called "Tiers payant social" can also apply to psychotherapy.
At the moment, only invoices from doctors, dentists, and for various blood tests can be processed using the so-called "social direct settlement system" ("tiers payant social"). However, ministry officials are now looking into the possibility of including psychotherapy in the 2012 agreement.
Martine Deprez, Minister for Health, announced the news on Friday morning as part of her response to a parliamentary question from Pirates MP Sven Clement.
To achieve this, negotiations would need to take place with the Ministry of Family, the Health Fund, and Fapsylux, the Federation of Psychotherapists. The immediate direct payment system, where individuals only need to pay their own share, is expected to be gradually extended - first to general practitioners and then to other specialists and healthcare professionals.
