François Georges, the former director of the ProActif employment initiative, faces accusations of physical assault by the Luxembourg Confederation of Christian Trade Unions (LCGB), prompting the initiation of a "serious and rare" expulsion procedure against him.
Following deliberations on Thursday morning, the LCGB executive board opted to escalate the matter involving François Georges, who served as a member of the trade union and director of ProActif for four and a half years, to its higher authorities for expulsion.
The executive board of LCGB contends that Georges' "recent behaviour and statements" are incompatible with the values and commitments of the organisation and are "not worthy of the dedication and work" of individuals engaged in the social and solidarity economy sector.
The recent development stems from Georges' abrupt termination by Norbert Conter, President of ProActif, an employment initiative established in 2018 as a non-profit organisation and later transitioned into a Societal Impact Company.
Georges stands accused of engaging in "inappropriate and inadmissible" conduct. "He physically attacked the president [of ProActif] in front of witnesses during a meeting organised on 2 February to address certain shortcomings and initiatives of the director," explains Patrick Dury, President of the LCGB and Vice-President of ProActif.
Dury expressed concern, stating, "He lost it. It would have come to blows had it not been for the intervention of other members" during the contentious meeting. Georges refuted these claims in an interview with the newspaper Luxemburger Wort, attributing the conflict to what he described as "persistent harassment and interference" from ProActif President Norbert Conter.
The administrative board of ProActif raised further issues regarding Georges' conduct, alleging that he operated outside established management protocols by unilaterally sending letters to various ministries through legal channels without prior approval from the board. While Georges admitted to sending the letters, he maintains that he duly informed the president.
