
The accident took place between 8.30pm and 9.15pm on Friday, on the route linking Schoenfels and Kopstal. According to police reports, a car travelling from Kopstal overtook another vehicle on a bend. But during this manoeuvre, it encountered another car travelling in the opposite direction. This caused the car that had been overtaken to veer off the road and into the ditch. The car was damaged, but fortunately no one was injured.
The car which caused the incident by overtaking fled the scene, leading to a complaint filed for a hit-and-run.

Accident under the influence
Police also reported an accident at around 4am on Saturday morning at the Rippweiler-Barrière roundabout. A patrol initially found just an empty crashed car on the scene, but later located the driver. She admitted to losing control of her vehicle and crashing into a road sign. Officers identified the woman as being intoxicated and subjected her to tests, which confirmed her consumption of alcohol and drugs. She later underwent blood and urine tests at the hospital and admitted to consuming cannabis. She was issued with a provisional driving ban.
