34 new machines will be gradually introduced to Luxembourg's rail network until 2026.

With this 400 million euro investment, CFL announces that the 34 new machines are expected to increase transport capacity by 39,000 seats.

The new trains will not only transport more people, but they will also offer passengers greater comfort. CFL engineer Mike Strotz explains: "They will offer a modern wifi system but also be equipped with a passenger counting system which will allow us to display the occupancy rate of the train in the station. This will also allow us to adapt the service to the seats available."

A test phase is scheduled for February before the new trains, which were ordered in 2018, are put on the rails. Now that they have arrived, CFL is thinking about the evolution of the rail fleet for the years 2030-2032. An investment in solar energy is planned to eventually produce up to 15% of the electricity needed to run the CFL network.
