Reducing tobacco consumptionMinister of Health announces new anti-tobacco legislation in drafting process

RTL Today
In light of the European directive against the use of tobacco, the government is drafting new regulation, including the obligation to display warning messages on tobacco products and the ban on flavourings and additives.

The Minister of Health, Martine Deprez, clarified that with the current opportunity presenting itself in the European directive being transposed into Luxembourg law, the ministry is thinking of adding further measures to combat tobacco consumption. However, the minister did not specify what direction is currently being envisaged.

In terms of a potential ban on vaping (i.e. disposable e-cigarettes), the ministry is still waiting to receive results on the impact on public health (in addition to the clear environmental impact).

DP MP Gusty Grass referred to the strict French anti-tobacco policy in a parliamentary question and wanted to know what is planned in Luxembourg.
