
At around 3.45am on Thursday morning, the driver lost control of their vehicle between Imbringen and Altlinster, resulting in a head-on collision with a tree at the side of the road. The wreckage of the vehicle ended up in a nearby field, according to emergency services reports.
Although the incident was initially reported as an injury on Thursday morning, the Grand Ducal police have since confirmed that the driver passed away at the scene of the crash. First responders, Lintgen ambulance and an emergency team from Junglinster were dispatched to the site but all help arrived too late, according to police.
The CR119 was closed to traffic until further notice, as police advised drivers to avoid the area.
This tragic incident is the second fatal crash on Luxembourg’s roads in just two days, after a 19-year-old man was killed in a collision near Echternach on Tuesday evening.
