Luxcargo Handling and Greek corporation Goldair Handling have been granted licences to operate at the Findel cargo centre following Luxair Cargo's decision to relinquish oversight, impacting approximately 1,200 employees.

The Ministry for Mobility on Tuesday announced that two licences for the Findel cargo centre have been issued. One will go to Luxcargo Handling, a new Cargolux subsidiary, the other to Goldair Handling, a Greek corporation. According to the statement, the decision was made in accordance with the “proposal of the Lux-Airport managing body ... and after consultation with the airport users’ committee”.

At the end of September, employees of Luxair Cargo had organised a protest at Findel after Luxembourg’s flagship airline announced their intention to relinquish cargo centre oversight. Close to 1,200 employees are affected by this decision.

Luxcargo Handling has since pledged to take over the contracts of the Luxair Cargo workers. The contract stipulates that the Cargolux subsidiary will cover “the obligations and liabilities relating to employees whose employment contracts are transferred”.
