Anticipation builds in Luxembourg as 15 ministers from the CSV and DP are slated to take their oaths this Friday, finalising the government formation efforts by Luc Frieden.

Only a day after the election on 8 October, Luc Frieden from the Christian Social People's Party (CSV) was appointed by Grand Duke Henri to form a new government. Equally fast, a decision to start coalition talks with the Democratic Party (DP) was announced, and this five-week process of extensive deliberations is now poised to come to an end.

Both delegations met a total of ten times at Senningen Castle where their task forces conducted dozens of sessions on concrete measures and policies designed to strengthen purchasing power, economic competitiveness, and environment protection.

Frieden is scheduled to present the draft agreement to the Grand Duke on Wednesday afternoon. In the evening, the DP directing board will convene, same as the CSV national council and extraordinary congress. Here, delegation leaders Xavier Bettel and Claude Wiseler will present the corner stones of the coalition agreement, including the allocation of ministerial roles, which is then to be passed by their respective delegations.

Frieden will then face the press on Thursday to present the corner stones of the coalition agreement, which will determine the government's position on major issues over the next five years.

A team of 15 ministers, eight from the CSV and seven from the DP, is expected to be sworn in on Friday.
