The President of the Chamber of Employees (CSL), Nora Back, announced the initiative during a press conference on Friday morning .

She emphasised that the newly elected government must take action on the issue. She also presented a recent study, conducted to understand who is most impacted by the minimum wage, which highlights that new professionals are not the only group concerned with the issue.

Figures collected through the study show that 60% of those earning minimum wage are residents, of which 23% hold Luxembourgish nationality. Almost 4,600 employed people receive the unqualified minimum wage despite working for more than 5 years.

Nora Beck stressed that no alternative is acceptable other than a structural increase in the minimum wage.
