A multi-vehicle accident in Howald on Monday morning caused kilometres of backed-up traffic on the A1 motorway.

At around 8.15am on Monday, several vehicles were involved in a collision in the Howald tunnel towards Trier. The left-hand lane was closed to traffic as a result of the incident, causing traffic jams to form on the A6 from Strassen towards Luxembourg, as well as on the A3 and A4 motorways. Motorists were advised to leave space along the central corridor to allow emergency services to pass through.
