On Wednesday 4 October a Ryanair flight from Luxembourg touched down in Stansted ten minutes ahead of schedule. As the plane pulled up to the gate, it collided with a truck, which was designed to transport passengers requiring mobility assistance.

Video footage shared on social media depicted the moments leading up to the collision, showing the truck as it approached the Boeing 737-800. The driver is shown attempting to reverse the vehicle at the last minute, but it was not enough to avoid a collision with the aircraft’s wing. Undeterred, the plane continued its manoeuvre into a parked position.

German newspaper the Trierer Volksfreund reported that no passengers had been injured in the incident. However, the 13-year-old aircraft, purchased by Ryanair in September 2010, has not left Stansted airport since the collision.
