The election results of a candidate are the sum of the votes they received personally, and the votes the whole party received.
Would anything change if we only take personal votes into consideration and remove party votes from the equation?
South district
In the southern election district, the LSAP's Jean Asselborn would still be at the top. But in this scenario, he would be closely followed by party colleague Taina Bofferding, who received a total of 18,107 personal votes. Rounding out the top three would be Gilles Roth from the CSV. Georges Mischo (CSV) and Mars Di Bartolomeo (LSAP) would be ranked fourth and fifth respectively.
In the South the CSV received the most party votes with 16,674, followed by the LSAP and DP with 12,802 and 8,613 respectively. Here the ADR and the Pirates received more party votes than the Greens, while the Left received the fewest votes with only 2,222.
Centre district
In the Centre there would be no change in the ranking of the top three in this scenario. Xavier Bettel received over 5,000 more personal votes than second-ranked Luc Frieden. Bettel also received many more personal votes than Yuriko Backes in third. However when it comes to personal votes, the Greens' Sam Tanson could only manage fourth spot. Rounding out the top 5 is the Pirates' leading man Sven Clement.
In the Centre the ranking of party votes is similar to the one in the South: CSV-11,374, DP-9,326, LSAP-4,339, Déi Gréng-3,743, ADR-3,086, Piraten-2,468, and finally Déi Lénk-1,399.
North district
In the northern district, the top two stay the same. Martine Hansen and Christophe Hansen from the CSV both received the most personal votes in the district, with 11,744 votes and 9,048 votes respectively. In this ranking they are however followed by two DP politicians: Fernand Etgen and André Bauler. Rounding out the top 5 of most personal vote is another CSV politician Charel Weiler.
When it came to party vote in the North, the ADR received more of them than the LSAP, with CSV and DP receiving the most of them: CSV-8,416, DP-3,926, ADR-3,836, LSAP-3,653, Piraten-2,276.
East district
Finally in the East, with or without her party votes, the LSAP's lead candidate Paulette Lenert comes out on top with 11,927 personal votes. She is followed by Lex Dells from the DP, who would steal the second spot from Léon Gloden (CSV), who received the third most personal votes, but achieved second place with party votes. Rounding out the top 5 of most personal votes in the East are Carole Hartmann (DP) and Max Hengel (CSV).
Here too, the CSV received the most party votes followed by the DP and the LSAP.
