Ahead of the Schueberfouer's launch, the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps conducted a mock emergency drill at Glacis square, emphasising preparedness in light of recent accidents at nearby amusement parks.

With the Schueberfouer opening on Wednesday, authorities carried out one final test of their emergency responses on Tuesday. 15 volunteers had to be saved from a height of 15 metres by the special unit.

In case of a real emergency, the CGDIS team can be on location and fully set up within half an hour. To facilitate access, the entire site has been mapped out and coded.

In light of recent accidents at funfairs and amusement parks in Luxembourg's neighbouring countries, officials hope that Tuesday's simulation will remain the only time that emergency services are called to the Schueberfouer.
