Modernisation works on the N7, between the Fridhaff roundabout and the Belgian border, are set to begin next year after receiving approval from the Chamber of Deputies in 2022.

Responding to parliamentary questions submitted by the DP, Minister of Mobility François Bausch said modernisation of the N7 represented one of the biggest upcoming projects planned for northern Luxembourg. The works will be done in three sections across a 24.9 kilometre stretch of road.

The project won a large majority of parliamentary votes in summer 2022 and is expected to begin in 2024. Plans are afoot for the necessary permits required to begin the first 11 kilometre section, which should then begin shortly. The first phase will cover the stretch between the Fridhaff roundabout and Hoscheid-Dickt and will require archaeological studies and de-mining work in some areas.

The second section connects Hosingen to Marnach over nearly three kilometres, while the third section will run between Heinerscheid and Weiswampach over a distance of 6.6 kilometres. The project duration is estimated to be roughly seven years.
