At a press conference on Tuesday, Minister for Energy Claude Turmes announced several new developments regarding solar power in Luxembourg.
According to the Minister for Energy, solar energy in Luxembourg has seen significant improvements in both financial viability and administrative procedures.
The Minister highlighted that not only has solar energy become more financially appealing, but the processes involved in adopting this renewable energy source have also been simplified. Additionally, the government has enhanced the support available for those interested in transitioning to solar power.
In a bid to promote self-consumption of electricity, authorities are set to introduce a new regulation that will eliminate the need for private individuals to have a second metre at home.
In addition, procedures will be digitised, allowing, for example, for remote communication with electricians by video call via an application.
Finally, the Minister for Energy announced that there will be a significant change in regulations regarding photovoltaic installations on balconies. Going forward, individuals will be permitted to install such systems without having to fulfil any administrative requirements.
