The emergency measures in place for the construction sector are insufficient and imprecise, the Chamber of Trades said on Friday.
The Chamber of Trades believes the government must take swift action to develop a new package for the construction sector amid the current crisis, with many businesses on the brink of collapse due to stagnation in the industry.
Although the government announced new support for the sector back in June, the measures have been deemed insufficient. The Chamber of Trades has called for state and municipal projects to be continued, while energy renovations for public properties should also be accelerated. Planned projects for the next few years should also be put out to tender as a matter of urgency.

Among other demands are the removal of registration for construction, the introduction of accelerated depreciation, and the doubling of the VAT ceiling for investment from €50,000 to €100,000.
Developors will not pay for this crisis, said the Chamber of Trades; instead the costs will fall on craftspeople and small businesses.
