The Luxembourg Urban Garden (LUGA) open-air exhibition will be launched on 7 May 2025 and will present a series of horticultural artistic projects around the capital and the Nordstad area until 18 October 2025.

The LUGA exhibition will take place at four sites across Luxembourg City - the municipal park, the Pétrusse valley, Kirchberg and the Alzette valley - and around the Nordstad area in northern Luxembourg. The project will present different gardens, artistic projects and the latest agricultural technology, under the slogan 'Making the invisible visible'.

Ann Muller from the LUGA association explained the exhibition would be "an invitation for an extraordinary journey". The capital and the Nordstad will transform into a "place of well-being" over the course of six months, where people can experiment, research, look for inspiration, or simply enjoy the surroundings. Muller said the project would encourage people to share their knowledge and even consider how they want the city to look.

The LUGA project was initially postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, this gave organisers more time to focus on planning and allowed them to extend the exhibition to northern Luxembourg. The Nordstad portion will now become an extension of the yearly agricultural fair held in Ettelbruck.

Minister of Agriculture Claude Haagen said: "The point here is that the distance is not too far, we have free public transport, we can use this to do marketing for the whole country. This requires more specific elements from the agricultural sector, as well as Luxembourg City's cultural elements, in order to connect the two together. This is a major theme for LUGA."

The budget for the exhibition currently stands at €22 million, split equally between the capital and the municipalities. A number of events will take place this year as a taster of the exhibition, including concerts, walks, and concerts. For more information, check the website at luga.lu.
