Contract cancelledOrder of Architects criticises Schengen council handling of new school project

RTL Today
For four years, architects at the "Valentiny HVP" bureau had been working on the project for a new school campus in Rëmerschen, until the contract was cancelled by the municipality.

The municipal council of Schengen voted to cancel two contracts with the Valentiny HVP architects office over disagreements on how to proceed with the “Baggerweiren” school campus. Mayor Michel Gloden told RTL the collaboration was “no longer possible” following a majority vote.

The Order of Architects (OAI), however, has sharply condemned the council’s actions as reported in the media. The association said the council of Schengen had displayed “unworthy” behaviour in making their criticism of the architects public in such a manner.

The OAI added that the termination of a contract is strictly regulated according to the law on public procurement, and insisted it be observed in this case. In addition, the OAI could have acted as a mediator in the dispute between the municipality and the architects’ office, but their involvement had not been requested.
