The Luxembourg City Greens presented their campaign programme for the upcoming elections on Friday.
The team around mayoral candidate François Benoy and the Greens' other leading candidate Claudie Reyland said the challenges they were facing may be great, but that the party would prioritise mobility around the capital if they emerged victorious on 11 June.
The Greens proposed to draw up concepts for less motorised traffic in the capital's neighbourhoods, based on the national mobility plan.
François Benoy explained:
"Everyone would still be able to get to their house by car, but they might have to take a different route. The idea would be that through-traffic would be routed around the neighbourhoods. These concepts are not new and have been used in the Netherlands, for example, for decades."
The Greens hope to emerge stronger from the municipal elections and plan to speak to all political establishments following the vote.
However, among the parties currently represented in the municipal council, the Greens would exclude the ADR as a potential partner.
