Grand Ducal police were involved in a high-speed chase on Friday after a motorcyclist attempted to dodge a traffic stop.

The chase took place after a police patrol tried to check a biker in Sandweiler. According to the authorities, the man avoided the stop and then tried to flee.

The police had no choice but to pursue him. During the chase, they found that the motorcyclist had raised his license plate so that it could not be seen. “Speeds of around 200 km/h” were reached according to the police bulletin.

The biker caused "dangerous situations" by trying to escape the authorities. He ended up losing control of his two-wheeler and falling, allowing the police to apprehend him. He was not injured according to the report.

An investigation will be opened to determine why this man fled. A report was drawn up and the motorcycle was seized.

211 km/h in a 130 zone

Another high-speed incident was also reported on Friday night when police surprised a driver traveling well above the speed limit on the A4 motorway.

A police patrol posted near the Pontpierre service station recorded a driver going at 211 km/h at around 10:30 p.m.

The authorities confirmed that the police set off in pursuit of the driver who ended up being arrested in Leudelange.

His driver's license was confiscated on the spot. A report was also drawn up.
