Upon enquiry by our colleagues from RTL.lu, the Coca-Cola group said it has decided to stop selling sodas at secondary schools in Belgium, and that the same policy will be implemented in Luxembourg.
Only 15 Coca-Cola vending machines remain in the Grand Duchy’s secondary schools.
In recent years, the group has continuously adapted its presence in schools and has already switched to selling only water and sugar-free drinks. The group is said to be following the social debate on this issue as well as the expectations of self-regulation, which led to this commercial decision.
The Ministry of Education told RTL that it has no information on the matter. According to an article in L’Essentiel, the Coca-Cola group has direct contracts with the schools.
