If the weather remains dry, the procession will move from the Palace to the Town Hall at 3pm.
Mayor Lydie Polfer will be the couple’s marriage commissioner, with the event taking place in the large room on the first floor.
Recently, the square has been more of a construction project than a public site. Work is continuing on the underground parking lot, and the square itself should also get a make over.
But the fact that construction is nearing completion at the same time as the wedding were a mere coincidence, says council alderman Serge Wilmes.
According to Wilmes, construction is expected to be completed before the collective leave period of construction workers. The parking garage may open a bit later, however.
This week, new sycamores were planted, and the council foresees more than 16 trees in total. Each over 25 years old already, they’ll provide plenty of shade to the square.
There will also be a new playground at the entrance of the Citizens Centre, says Wilmes, who also looks forward to having flower pots dotted around the square.
The markets will return to their “home” in June/July as planned.
