TripartiteEcological Movement and Young Greens criticise parts of agreement

RTL Today
The Ecological Movement (Mouveco) opposes the extension of the energy price cap, while the Young Greens raise concerns about financing.

The Ecological Movement oppose the one-year extension of the energy price cap. In extending the price cap Mouveco says the state “continues to fund the often high energy consumption of wealthy households.” Mouveco would like to see a more fundamental discussion on how vital natural resources can be preserved, how the ecological transition can be implemented in practice, and which parts of the population should contribute to it.

The Young Greens generally welcome the fact that an agreement was reached in the tripartite, but they criticise the fact that the question of reciprocal financing has not been solved, “which is why we are missing hundreds of millions of euros every year to invest in the interest of future generations.”

The youth section of the Green Party (déi Gréng) would have liked the adjustment of the tax table to be financed at least in part by an increase in the top tax rate on particularly high salaries. In addition, they believe that the energy price caps should be phased out more quickly.

The new tripartite agreement was signed on Tuesday.
