ArcelorMittal published its 400-page-long annual report on Wednesday, which shows that the metallurgical group made a profit of about €13 billion last year, down €5 billion compared to 2021.
As of 31 December 2022, the group employed nearly 155,000 people at sites in 16 countries, producing more than 82 million tonnes of steel products for customers in 150 countries.
Despite geopolitical uncertainties, ArcelorMittal estimates that steel demand will recover this year, or at least that the peak of low demand will be passed.
The group aims to achieve climate neutrality in terms of production by 2050. Emissions should however already be reduced worldwide by a quarter by 2030, according to ArcelorMittal.
