Following an overall cold day, temperatures on Sunday evening will fall well below zero as Meteolux forecasts up to -3°C. The day thereby sets the tone for the whole week ahead.

After particularly mild temperatures this week, the thermometer will drop sharply again for the next few days as “a north-eastern flow is directing polar air masses towards Luxembourg”, writes Meteolux.

It is therefore advisable to wear a hat and gloves for the next five days. The weather will be largely clear, often sunny, but temperatures will remain negative at night and especially in the morning (down to -5°C).

It will only be 1°C to 3°C during the day on Monday, but Wednesday promises to be slightly better with up to 6°C, according to Meteolux.

Rain and snow on the Côte D’Azur

French meteorological services forecast cloudy weather all over France on Sunday. Over the course of the afternoon, significant rainfall will affect the whole of the Alps and the Provence-Alpes-Côtes d’Azur (PACA). Rainy and snowy conditions are then expected over the south-east of the country at the end of the day.

The snow line will progressively go down to a very low altitude in the evening and the following night, with a risk of snow up to the plains in the PACA region, the Rhône valley, and over the Languedoc region at the end of the night from Sunday to Monday.

Snow accumulations will range from 2 to 5 cm on the plains and from 5 to 10 cm above 400 metres in the east of Bouches-du-Rhône, the west of Var, the east of Vaucluse, and the west of Alpes de Hautes-Provence.

The rest of the country will experience a few light showers at the beginning of the day before dry, sunny, yet colder weather will set in later. Strong north-east wind will blow and the cold is expected to be sharp. On the coasts of Normandy and Brittany, wind gusts are forecast to reach 60 to 70 km/h.
