The DP, LSAP and the CSV submitted three parliamentary questions demanding explanations as to how the Luxembourg army employed a doctor with previous convictions.

According to the Luxemburger Wort, the emergency doctor was briefly employed by the Luxembourg army in the autumn of 2022, despite being convicted of forgery, fraud and tax evasion in Belgium some months prior. The practitioner had accepted payment in return for issuing false Covid vaccination certificates, in a case which received a large amount of media attention.

Minister of Defence François Bausch issued a statement on Thursday, explaining the doctor was hired as an external contractor after submitting the necessary documents. Several days after his employment began, attention was drawn to the man's background and the contract was swiftly terminated.
