In order to prevent the avian flu virus from spreading, the Luxembourg Veterinary Administration has issued the following advice:
Birds and poultry must be fed in places where they cannot come into contact with wild birds. Poultry must be kept in secure enclosures and only allowed out if there is protective netting to avoid contact with wild birds.
Any imported poultry must be certified by a vet from the exporting country.
If you should come across a dead duck, goose or swan, the advice is to immediately report it to the veterinary administration.
The above measures will be updated in accordance with the disease’s evolution. The Ministry added that the consumption of eggs or poultry does not pose a risk to public health.
