Government, employers and trade unions will convene in Senningen on 3 March to discuss the tripartite measures taken last year.

Last week, Prime Minister Xavier Bettel announced his intention to convene a new tripartite meeting as a result of the latest inflation figures published by STATEC, expected to reach 3.4% this year.

Could there be three wage indexations in 2023? A first indexation took place February, with another happening in April, and a last one being expected at the end of the year.

Neither unions nor employers' representatives have any details on what an additional indexation will mean for businesses. According to last year's tripartite agreement, the government will cover all of the wage indexations necessary in 2023.

Accordingly, the government, employers and trade unions will meet next week in Senningen to decide on a coordinated implementation of the tripartite measures. Compensation for the third index tranche will also be agreed.

Thanks to the measures of the solidarity package, especially on energy prices, inflation was curbed and in January fell below the 5% mark for the first time since early 2022, at 4.8%.
