Finland's Prime Minister Sanna Marin visited Luxembourg on Friday, meeting with her counterpart Xavier Bettel.

Marin has faced criticism for her lifestyle as Prime Minister, having been forced to undergo a drug test in 2022 after photos of her dancing at a private party were published.

Later that year, when asked which politician she would most likely party with, she famously opted for Luxembourg's Xavier Bettel.

In a press conference on Friday afternoon after her visit to the Grand Duchy, Marin was asked if there were any plans for a party with Bettel. She replied: "Unfortunately not, we are working today, so not that kind of plans."

On a more serious note, Marin said she was not surprised by the media scrutiny of her private life, as she represents a younger generation of politicians. "Politicians are also normal human beings," she said.

She went on to praise her Luxembourgish counterpart for remaining true to himself while in office, complimenting his art. Bettel replied that Marin would not have faced such criticism if she was a man.

The visit was Marin's first to Luxembourg since she became Finland's Prime Minister in 2019, and followed an EU Council summit in Brussels on Thursday.
