The next wage indexation in 2023 will not be cancelled, according to Prime Minister Xavier Bettel. While attending the EU Special Summit in Brussels, he addressed the various reactions in Luxembourg following the announcement of another tripartite.
For the Prime Minister, the next tripartite is about two issues in particular. On the one hand, the social partners must decide how to extend compensation while simultaneously considering what to do about the measures that are slated to expire. “One thing I can say is that I’m not considering cancelling the next wage indexation,” Bettel said, adding that “if a government wants to fiddle with the index, it must say so before the elections.” The Prime Minister stressed that “this wage indexation will be paid and we pledged to compensate businesses for it. This is still true today.”
