"Outdated" systemChamber of Commerce demands a maximum of one index tranche a year

The Chamber of Commerce presented a number of proposals developed in conjunction with businesses on Thursday, ahead of the upcoming elections.

A key concern for businesses is the current lack of a qualified workforce. The Chamber of Commerce appealed to politicians to establish a national strategy to promote young talent at all educational levels.
The Chamber also highlighted the need for a new economic model which could be both competitive and attractive to prospective employees. The indexation system in particular requires a rethink, the Chamber said, as the current index tranche system is outdated and only serves to drive inflation up further. The Chamber therefore demanded a reduction of index tranches on an annual basis, limiting the number of indexations to one a year.
