Austrian public television announced on Sunday the deprogramming of works featuring an actor currently starring in the Oscar-nominated film 'Corsage' after he confessed to possessing child pornography.

"ORF will refrain with immediate effect from producing and broadcasting works with Florian Teichtmeister" such as 'Inspector Rex' or 'Tatort', the website of the broadcasting group read on Sunday.

According to ORF, the cinema chain Cineplexx, which operates 400 locations in twelve countries, has withdrawn the feature film about Sissi, 'Corsage'. The film was shown at the Cannes Film Festival last year in the 'Un certain Regard' selection, which focuses on non-traditional works.

Luxembourgish actress Vicky Krieps plays the lead role of Empress Sissi in the Oscar-nominated film along Teichtmeister, who embodies Emperor Franz Joseph in this European co-production.

On Friday, the 43-year-old actor's lawyer told the media that his client had been charged, which has since been confirmed by the Vienna public prosecutor's office. Teichtmeister intends to plead guilty and will be tried from 8 February.

He is accused of having possessed a large amount of child pornography between February 2008 and August 2021. He faces up to two years in prison.

The 'Burgtheater', Austria's national theatre, where Mr Teichtmeister is a member, has announced his dismissal with immediate effect.
