CID | Fraen an Gender (Centre for feminism and gender in Luxembourg) is a non-profit with a focus on feminism, gender issues, and equality. With the 2023 national https://today.rtl.lu/news/luxembourg/a/2014202.htmlelection date approaching, the organisation sought to gauge the main parties’ approach to women’s rights.

According to information provided by CID, representatives from seven of the nine political parties to which they reached out answered 30 questions on areas such as education, work, family, health, foreign policy, culture, as well as politics and society.

CID’s stated aim for the exercise was in part to determine the parties’ values for a more equal, feminist, socially just and inclusive society, as well as provide voters with an overview of the importance of feminism and gender justice ahead of the elections.

The organisation thus developed a questionnaire seeking to establish where the parties stand on a series of issues deemed by CID to be of particular interest from a feminist and equality perspective, the answers to which they analysed and presented in the below infographic.

Parties were also offered the opportunity to answer open-ended questions and provide detail beyond the answer options foreseen by the organisation. The below chart shows how CID then interpreted and evaluated the answers provided by each party - with exception of KPL and Fokus, who declined to participate in the survey.

In the run-up to the elections, the CID plans to compare the survey responses with published election manifestos in order to extend their analysis.

For detailed answers and the original wording of the survey responses, see www.cid-fg.lu.
