Luxembourg City Mayor Lydie Polfer confirmed in conversation with RTL that the municipality will continue working with private security firms in the capital next year.

After the old contracts with a private security firm expired at the end of November, a new tender offer has been made to ensure patrols in Gare, Bonnevoie, and the upper town. Although Mayor Polfer would prefer to have police cover the shifts, she is convinced that additional security is necessary in the absence of authorities.

The politician from the Democratic Party (DP) further noted that they will seek to combine the services of the security firm with those of the police and those offered by the social workers from 'A vos côtés' ('At your side').

According to reports from newspaper Wort, the municipality's budget for the security firm amounts to €600,000.
