The latest figures show that Luxembourg's residents and businesses continue to save energy.

In October, gas consumption was 36% lower on average compared to the last five years.

Despite these encouraging figures, Minister for Energy Claude Turmes urges caution. If temperatures drop after this relatively warm month of October, gas consumption for heating could increase considerably.

Luxembourg pledged to voluntarily reducing its gas consumption by 15% between August 2022 and March 2023.

Local energy conservation measures primarily target electricity. According to the Ministry of Energy, 32 municipalities, or one-third of the communes in the Grand Duchy, are currently switching off public street lighting at night.
