On Wednesday MeteoLux announced that last month was the warmest October on record.
With an average of 12.8 degrees Celsius last month, October was 2.9 degrees above the "normal climate" of the years 1991 to 2020, with an average temperature of 9.9 degrees.
Only in October 2006 were comparable temperatures reached.
The highest temperature measured this year was 21.8 degrees. Still far away from the record of 26 degrees that were measured on 2 October 2011.
According to MeteoLux, mild air temperatures in the last part of October (21.10. to 31.10.) are not unusual. There have been 9 Octobers with temperatures above 20 degrees since 1947.
However, it was noted that this has become more frequent since the 2000s.
