The historical drama 'Corsage', directed by Marie Kreutzer and starring Luxembourgish actress Vicky Krieps, received the highest honour at the BFI Film Festival 2022.
Situated in the year 1877, the film is about Empress Elisabeth of Austria, more commonly known under her nickname Sisi, and the struggles she faced in her later years.
The jury at the BFI London Film Festival described the piece as a "masterfully directed film", which won the highest honour thanks to "a mesmerising and original interpretation of the life of the Austrian Empress Elisabeth".
The performance by the Luxembourgish actress also received praise: "The jury was completely seduced by Vicky Krieps' sublime performance of a woman out of time trapped in her own iconography and her rebellious yearning for liberation."
Krieps was already honoured for her performance at the Cannes Film Festival, as well as at the Sarajevo Film Festival earlier this year.
