The environmental organisation has issued a statement to condemn Google's planned data centre in Bissen due to concerns over the site's water consumption.

Following an extremely dry summer, Mouvement Ecologique wants to reopen the debate over the planned data centre in Bissen. The organisation argues that water management should be a political matter and that Google should be denied the opportunity of building a site in the Grand Duchy.

According to the statement, the water use of the planned centre would amount to 5% of the country's annual drinking water consumption. The organisation further criticises that it still not clear from where all the necessary water will come, noting that neither rivers and nor creeks will be able to cover the demand.

The statement concludes by promising that Mouvement Ecologique will continue its fight against the multinational technology company with all legal means at their disposal.
