As expected, high inflation has also affected the season's fun fairs across the Greater Region, as Schueberfouer visitors reported on Friday.

Despite Luxembourg City's decision to not charge any stall fees this year, high prices continue to plague many showmen at the Schueberfouer.

It is a well-known fact that the fair is everything but cheap, even well before inflation and the pandemic. However, as the Schueberfouer returns to its classic format, prices are expected to be even more expensive than in previous years. Numerous visitors have criticised the exaggerated prices on social media.

This tweet reports that the fair had always been expensive even in normal times, but this year the prices are crazy. Another tweet jokingly writes: 'if anyone is looking for a sugar daddy, I am going to drink five beers at the fair this weekend'.

The Schueberfouer - and fairs in general - is known for rejecting the concept of democratic prices. But to charge up to 9 euros for a bottle of sparkling water (from Luxembourg) will keep some visitors at bay who probably will 'not support this kind of shenanigans', as one Facebook user commented.
