In July, the number of businesses that use short-term work is expected to drop significantly. Compared to June, over 400 fewer applications were submitted.
The Economic Committee reported on Tuesday afternoon that it had received 135 applications for partial unemployment, which is 408 fewer than the previous month.
The Committee approved 59 applications. As a result, about 8,000 employees will be affected by short-time work in July. Short-time work still affected over 10,000 workers in the previous month. According to the Economic Committee, this indicates that small businesses that were previously granted partial unemployment are now operating normally again.
Short-time work is a tool meant to be used during times of economic downturn that allows companies not to employ all or some of its employees without having to terminate their contracts. The Employment Fund covers 80% of short-time workers' salaries and up to 2.5 times the amount of the minimum wage.
