
Another six people died of coronavirus last week, although the number of hospitalisations dropped overall.
3,641 people tested positive for Covid-19 between 25 April and 1 May, compared to 4,311 the week before. The number of PCR tests conducted in that timeframe has dropped slightly, from 12,911 to 12,847.
The Grand Duchy's active infections have also fallen from 10,010 on 24 April to 8,526 on 1 May.
Six people died of coronavirus in the last week, with an average age of 84.
Fewer patients were admitted to hospital with Covid last week, with 14 new hospitalisations compared to 24 the previous week. On average there were two people in intensive care at any given time last week.
The majority of new cases appeared in people aged 30 to 44 last week (759 per 100,000), although the same age group also observed a 22% drop in new infections. The fewest infections occurred in people aged 60 to 74 (434 per 100,000).
The majority of infections occurred among families, accounting for 32% of cases. 10% were attributed to foreign travel and 7% occurred in leisure activities, workplaces and the health sector. However, a quarter of people could not accurately pinpoint where they had come into contact with the virus.
46 people received their first dose of the vaccine in the last week of April, while 139 received the second jab. 536 people received a first booster while 1,346 had a second booster administered. As of 2 May, Luxembourg had used 1,279,644 doses of the vaccine, while 773,070 people were considered fully vaccinated - around 78.7% of the population aged over 5.
