On Monday afternoon, Minister Backes addressed the Chamber's finance commission to present a report on the first three months of the year.
Minister Backes was cautiously optimistic and explained that the fast financial recovery from the pandemic is a sign of Luxembourg's resilient economy.
Up until the end of March, the government received €6.1 billion in revenue, which represents a 13% increase compared to the first three months of 2021. Spending has remained consistent at €5.3 billion.
Minister Backes further underlined that neither the effects of the war in Ukraine, nor those of the tripartite agreement are included in the report. She therefore warned that the financial situation is expected to worsen again in coming months.
