The Peace Platform has announced that the 2022 edition of its annual Peace March will be held in the capital on Easter Monday.

The Peace Platform organises the march jointly with the Independent Luxembourg Trade Union Confederation (OGBL). This year, they want to focus on the numerous wars that are still unfolding around the globe.

"Ukraine, Syria, Yemen, and so many other places. It is difficult to stand in for peace in the midst of all this military and war chaos", said Raymond Becker, spokesperson for the Peace Platform. Military capacities should be decreased rather than increased, and more focus has to be awarded to diplomatic solutions, officials further noted.

Another focus of the Peace March will be climate change. The goals of the Paris Accord have to be implemented more rigorously and fossil fuels have to make room for renewable energy, officials noted.

The Peace March is scheduled to start at Glacis at 3pm on 18 April.
