A controlled explosion of a World War II bomb occurred in Dudelange on Tuesday.
The bomb was discovered on a work site on rue Schiller around 2pm. There was no immediate danger to surrounding houses, said police, but residents were asked to evacuate during the operation all the same.
The road was closed and the army's bomb disposal unit took the bomb to a nearby field, where it was disposed of in a controlled explosion around 4.45pm.
