
Our colleagues from RTL were at the scene when a bus carrying Ukrainian refugees arrived in Bascharage on Sunday evening.
The bus, which was organised by the non-profit organisation 'Slava Ukrayini', is only one of several refugee transports expected to arrive in the Grand Duchy over the coming days and weeks.
Our colleagues from RTL accompanied one of the buses that picked people up at the Polish-Ukrainian border, and which arrived back in Luxembourg on Sunday evening.
A fraction of Ukrainian refugees will be able to find accommodation with relatives in Luxembourg. For the moment, many are expected to go to 'Shuk', a structure for emergency housing located in Kirchberg. According to Caritas and the Red Cross, 500 families have already offered to take in Ukrainian refugees. 90% of those applications have already been treated.

The UN believes Europe is now facing its largest refugee crisis since World War II. 1.5 million people are already estimated to have fled Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion, which is why Luxembourg officials are preparing for the eventual influx of people seeking shelter.
